Equipment Requirements

Ringette Pants - effective 2022-2023 season and going forward:

Players in U12 and up are required to purchase their own St.Albert Ringette Association Pants to wear in games.  U10 teams will still rent pants for the foreseeable future but players are able to purchase their own if they so choose.

Game Pants are for sale on the Source For Sports St.Albert webstore and in-store.  Game Pants are also available for pre-order at Source for Sports.  Store will close on August 1 to ensure game pants are here on time.  U12 and up must have their own game pants.  Please note Source does not carry a large amount in stock to purchase in store. They have sample sizes if you need to try on.    https://stalbertringettepants2023.itemorder.com/

Pants with another association colours/logos or plain black practice pants are not permitted in league games.

We recommend purchasing pants in the early summer (or late spring) for the following season to allow adequate time for pants to arrive if they need to be ordered.

Please also visit the St.Albert Ringette Sell & Swap page on Facebook for the opportunity to purchase used equipment from the ringette community.

When purchasing ringette equipment, consider these two important details:

  1. Make certain the player is adequately protected
  2. The fitting should allow freedom of movement so the player can properly perform the necessary skills and enjoy the game.

A complete set of ringette equipment can be purchased for a reasonable cost. There are many discount sports stores in the St. Albert (and Greater Edmonton Area) that buy and sell used equipment. Please keep in mind that the equipment must fit properly to provide maximum protection.

Mandatory Equipment:

  • Helmet CSA Approved Helmet
  • Facial protector (i.e. face mask) - CSA Approved Type 5 or Type 6 (the facial protector - or 'the cage' must be a ringette cage, not a hockey cage; ringette cages have triangle shape holes whereas hockey has square holes in the cage)
  • Gloves (the same type as used in Hockey)
  • Elbow pads (the same type as used in Hockey).
  • Ringette girdle and pants (these are different than used in hockey).
  • Shin guards
  • Skates (the same type as used in Hockey)
  • BNQ Approved Neck Guard regular or with collar.
  • Jersey - provided by St. Albert Ringette for games; players should have their own jersey for practices.
  • Ringette stick

Optional Equipment:

  • Shoulder pads
  • Mouth Guard
